The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about one of the least hygienic habits – handwashing. Many people may wonder how can there be wrong ways to wash hands, is it not the easiest thing to do? But this is not true. Many people suffer from various diseases due to not washing their hands properly. This day is to understand the importance of washing hands with soap as an effective and inexpensive way to prevent diseases and save lives.

Washing hands properly is of utmost importance in preventing diseases like diarrhea, flu and various other infections. Not washing your hands properly will not rid you of germs that can enter your system by making your food sick. In addition, it is also important to create awareness about handwashing as many people do not have access to the basic requirements needed to clean their hands properly.
