The comparison between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli refuses to die down. Every time a new batsman does well for India, he is instantly compared with the legendary batting maestro and Virat Kohli was not an exception either. But unlike others, Virat Kohli has gone on to live up to the expectations.

As of now, he is widely regarded as the best batsman in the world across formats. Just like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli also boasts of a stunning statistics with the bat. At just 31, he has already scored a staggering 70 international centuries and more than 100 fifties.

Virat Kohli needs seven more centuries to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI tons. Not only that, the current India captain is also in line to break several records of his illustrious former teammate. No surprises then that the comparisons between them does not end.

As far as Sachin Tendulkar is concerned, he is the most decorated batsman in the history of the game. He retired from the game as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Sachin Tendulkar made his debut at the age of 16 against arch-rivals, Pakistan in 1989 and bowed out from the game in 2013.

The batting maestro finished his Test career with a record 15,921 runs in 200 Tests with the help of 51 centuries and 68 fifties. The greatest ODI player of all time, he finished his illustrious career in the 50-over format, having played 463 ODIs, scored 18,426 runs and made 49 centuries, each of them a world record.

Who is better?

The comparison between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli once again came to the fore on Saturday when former India opener Wasim Jaffer was asked to pick the better between the two. In reply, Wasim Jaffer came up with a humorous reply, posting a picture with the words “Dange Karwayenge kya aap (Will you cause riots)?” and captioned the image:

“On a serious note, different eras. Both are great in their era.”
