World Reflexology Week 2020 Date, History and Significance: What Is Reflexology? Know More About Zone Therapy

Every year, the last week of September is celebrated by thr reflexologists around the world as World Reflexology Week to observe the importance of this day and spread awareness via organising events to celebrate World Reflexology Week. The idea is to promote the wonderful therap and also educate more and more people about reflexology aka zone therapy. Members of the Association of Reflexologists hold events so that you can experience the benefits of reflexology and more people spread a word about this therapy that has helped many around the world. Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy that is known to benefit in different ways. It is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.

History and Significance of World Reflexology Week

The history or World Reflexology Week dates back to  1994 when the members of the International Council of Reflexologists (ICR) stated their number one priority for the work of ICR was to do just that. It was then when the ICR President, Bill Flocco took up the challenge. That became the initiation of World Reflexology Week (WRW). Since 1999 WRW is observed in the last full week in September.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology doesn’t come under primary medical care, however this complementary care has worked miraculously in the past for many people. Reflexology is known to help the body to restore its balance naturally. They work with pressure points in our body to help relax  by reducing tension. It provides you with better sleep and improves your over all well being.  Some positive research projects carried out with reflexology until now and while it is said to have positive effects on the body, there isn’t enough evidence for clinical claims of effectiveness to be made.
